Nancy would love to hear from you at

I have officially announced that in 2022 I will run for the Senate District 44 seat currently held by Sen. Chuck Wiger. I will be seeking the DFL endorsement.

Sen. Wiger has announced that after serving in the Senate for 25 years he will not be running for re-election in 2022. He has encouraged me to run.

In addition to serving on the North St. Paul-Maplewood-Oakdale District 622 School Board for 21 years, I work as Sen. Wiger’s legislative assistant. My past jobs include 25 years as a Pioneer Press reporter, covering mostly education, and 13 years as community relations director at Century College.

I am ready to carry on Sen. Wiger’s legacy of hard work and service. My priorities will be addressing issues that matter to people in the district – education, the environment, health care costs, equity, and public safety.

My husband Tim VanNess and I have lived in North St. Paul for 43 years. We have three adult children and nine grandchildren, including three who live in Maplewood. We also have a Corgi dog who needs daily walks!

I am a past member of the North St. Paul-Maplewood-Rotary Club and a past chair of the White Bear Lake Area Chamber of Commerce.

I look forward to working with residents on issues that matter to our community. Together, we can accomplish more.
